The family

Since December 2012, we, Andrea Zellweger-Issler and Hans Zellweger, have been running this charming family restaurant with our three daughters Jasmin, Angela and Luzia in the third generation. Our mission is to offer you not only outstanding culinary delights, but also a holistic experience of traditional Swiss hospitality.


In addition to the restaurant, we run a small organic farm with horses and goats, rabbits, cats and dogs. While Hans, a trained farmer, is mostly busy in the kitchen of the restaurant, Andrea and daughter Luzia look after the stables and therefore also the carriage drive.

We can offer our guests not only a simple lunch or dinner, but also a real experience. The idyllic nature and genuine contact with loved ones shape these unforgettable moments. For us, the most beautiful thing is to be part of such moments and memories. We can now count guests in the third or even fourth generation among our regular guests.

History of the «Teufi»

The Teufi restaurant has not always been where it is today. The current location, just above the road, has only been there for about 100 years. The Walserhaus used to be down by the stream. It was rebuilt further up because of fears of flooding from the Dischmabach. The name "Teufi" comes from the low location, which is now the name of our restaurant.


The first "Isslers" in Dischma were Florian Issler (1844 -1895) and Elsbeth Issler-Ettinger. Andreas Issler (1902 - 1996) hosted guests for the first time in the farmhouse Teufi together with his wife Menga Issler-Müller. Nikodemus Issler (1942 - 2013) and Lisbeth Issler-Flütsch (1948) converted the original farmhouse into the current restaurant in the early 1980s.


From 1999 to summer 2012, Mena Kindschi - Issler was the third generation to run the Teufi. Andrea and Hans Zellweger - Issler took over the restaurant in November 2012. As in the early days of the Teufi restaurant, we focus on traditional Swiss cuisine. The dishes are freshly prepared and homemade every day.

The Dischma Valley

Did you know that the road through the Dischma used to be an important connection from Davos to the Engadin? It was used by many pack animals. The route led over the Scaletta Pass, which can still be crossed on foot today.


The Dischma Valley is around 12 km long and is the longest of the three Davos side valleys. The Flüela is to the northeast and the Sertig Valley to the southwest. It is drained by the Dischmabach. The valley floor is between 1500 and 2000 meters above sea level.

 


The Dischma Valley is a wonderful place to explore on foot all year round.


In summer you can hike or bike all the way to the Dürrboden and also take a bus ride there. In winter you can also benefit from a beautiful cross-country ski run and the Teufi run, which leads to us from the Jakobshorn as a black freeride piste.

For three generations, the Zellweger-Issler family has shaped the Teufi with traditional cooking and genuine hospitality for an authentic experience in Davos.

Our speciality has been the various fondues for generations. Hanz Zellweger takes great care every day to purchase and produce the fresh, homemade dishes to guarantee the quality of our diverse Swiss cuisine.

Our unique location in the beautiful Dischma Valley attracts many nature lovers every day. It is the place to take a deep breath and escape from everyday life. In addition to many activities such as hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and skiing, our carriage rides also offer a comfortable and unique way to experience the spirit of the Dischma Valley and nature.

Getting there

On foot:

The Teufi restaurant is located about 6 km from the village center of Davos in the middle of the three side valleys and at exactly 1700 m above sea level. Guests can reach us on foot within about 1 hour 30 minutes from the village train station (approx. 1500 m above sea level).

 

By car:

The valley is accessible via a well-maintained road that is accessible all year round. In winter, the road is not completely cleared so that horse-drawn sleighs can travel along it.

 

Please note that in winter the road is closed to private traffic from 10.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. for the benefit of pedestrians and sleigh enthusiasts.

 

There are sufficient parking spaces.

 

Public bus – line 313

The valley and the Teufi restaurant can also be reached by public bus. The bus leaves the Dorf train station every hour for Dischma, the departure times from the Dorf train station are always at xx:05. The bus leaves the valley at xx:23. The bus runs from 08:05 to 18:05 in the valley, and 07:45 / 08:23 to 18:23 out of the valley. There is an extra trip in the evening at 19:46.

Teufi-Shuttle

On request, Andrea and Hans will use two minibuses (10 to 15 seats) to pick you up safely and comfortably from your home in Davos and bring you back again after a pleasant evening with us.

The pick-up service with our bus taxis allows you and your guests to get to the Teufi restaurant comfortably and stress-free in around 15 minutes. If you have booked a Teufi package, the return trip is even included in the price.


Price:

For a one-way trip from Teufi to Davos we only charge CHF 5.00 per person, with a minimum of CHF 30.00 per trip. For night trips after 10 p.m. the minimum price is CHF 40.00 per trip.

Part of the family

We offer our employees not only a pleasant workplace and a family-like environment, but also a home to go with it.


Right next door we have our staff house with access to one of the two kitchens and living rooms. For a food and drink flat rate of CHF 10.00 per day, we cook our employees a varied lunch and dinner every day, or you can order whatever you want.


It is important to us that our small team works together, supports each other and also across departments. The season is characterized by many, and above all, returning and satisfied guests, very strong days, but also some quiet days. Since a lot of flexibility is expected here and no two days are the same, it is all the more important for us to keep motivation high until the end. At the end of the season, we all look forward to a trip together to celebrate what we have achieved together.


We are fortunate that we have been able to keep many employees with us for years for the winter season (December to mid-April) and also for the summer season (June to the end of October).
